Remodeling of T Cell Dynamics During Long COVID Is Dependent on Severity of SARS-CoV-2 Infection

It is estimated that about 30% of all convalescents suffer from the so-called long-COVID which is chronic and recurring health problems including fatigue, shortness of breath, pulmonary fibrosis, neuropathic symptoms within at least 3 months after the SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, Polish scientists examined the immune profile of patients with long-COVID. It has been shown that convalescents who have undergone severe COVID-19 have a significantly disturbed profile of CD8 T cells producing granzyme B and IFN-γ, which may affect the chronic nature of health disorders in these patients even 6 months after infection.
