An article published in Scientific Reports presents the results of the national register of inflammatory disorders in children (MultiOrgan Inflammatory Syndromes Related Study - MOIS-CoR). The MOIS-CoR study collected clinical data from 274 children who developed COVID-19-related multi-system inflammatory syndrome (PIMS) during the winter months of 2020/2021 in Poland. Pediatric patients with elevated markers of inflammation, markers of myocardial damage, and decreased eGFR and lower lymphocyte counts have been shown to have a greater risk of disease progression.
