The task of the expert group will be to establish criteria for the identification variants of concern (VOC) and variants under investigation (VUI) of the SARS-CoV-2 to adapt vaccines administered in the EU and EEA. In addition, the group's expertise covers epidemiology, virology, clinical practice, immunology, vaccinology, pharmacology, clinical evaluation and the development of medicinal products to help combat the pandemic. Apart from individual members, the expert group also includes organizations such as the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
