The latest research shows that Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccine continues to protect against new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Scientists proved that despite the several-fold reduction in neutralizing antibody titer, the vaccine still protects against both the British (B.1.1.7) and South African (B.1.351) variants of the virus. Nevertheless, Moderna is already working on a new vaccine formulation that addresses the numerous mutations found in the South African variant.
