Effectiveness of Covid-19 Vaccines against the B.1.617.2 (Delta) Variant

British study compared the effectiveness of the BioNTech-Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines against the Alfa and Delta variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in symptomatic individuals with COVID-19. Interestingly, taking two doses almost doubled the effectiveness of the vaccines compared to the one dose. Therefore, efforts to maximize vaccine uptake with two doses is extremely important in the context of the circulating Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
