Results published in the NEJM showed 87% protection from hospitalization, 92% protection against severe COVID-19 in people vaccinated with two doses of Pfizer vaccine compared to the unvaccinated group. In addition, the estimated effectiveness of the first dose of the vaccine was 72% in preventing death from COVID-19. Data are based on the vaccinated Israeli population.
